Suburb History

North Rocks is an residential suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. North Rocks is located 26 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of The Hills Shire, in the Hills District. North Rocks is bounded by Darling Mills Creek in the north and west, the suburb of Carlingford in the east and the suburb of North Parramatta in the south. North Rocks is named after the large sandstone outcrop once in the area. It was previously known as Jerusalem Rocks.

The suburb of North Rocks is dominated with freestanding homes although there are isolated commercial and industrial precincts. In the late 90s higher density living began to appear with the introduction of units and apartment blocks around the town centres.
